The Miami Seaquarium field trip was an amazing experience for all 100 of our club members. The generosity of the Little Lighthouse Foundation all owed our underprivileged youth to attend and be part of a memorable event. On that day The Little Lighthouse Foundation made a difference in the lives of our youths. Thank you again.

Little Lighthouse Foundation has made a big impression on the children’s lives here at Chapman Partnership in the Family Resource Center. They show kindness, love and respect towards all the children and are always well prepared with materials and volunteers. The children always look forward to them coming for story hour.

The Adopt a Meal program provides a much-needed support service to families who are taking care of their sick children, and often don’t have the time, finds, or energy to prepare a healthy, home-cooked meal. This is one of the most satisfying and appreciated volunteer efforts in our organization. Thanks to the Little Lighthouse Foundation for their generous offer to provide monthly meals for our families! Coming home from the hospital to a home-cooked meal, made by people who care, is a real gift.

The Little Lighthouse’s program is always a nice surprise for the patients and their families whose typical day is watching TV and waiting for the playroom to open. These programs give the patients and their families an opportunity to interact with volunteers in the playroom and at their bedsides doing recreational activities. The volunteers were more than eager to play games, do arts & crafts, or just hang out and talk. The patients look forward to times in the day that breaks up the monotony of being in the hospital; The Little Lighthouse Foundation volunteers helped make that happen. The Little Lighthouse has shown their dedication to this program by encouraging communication between us and them to make sure the program is meeting its goals as well as our goals here at Holtz. We can’t thank The Little Lighthouse Foundation enough for the support, resources, and time that The Little Lighthouse Foundation has shown our hospital.

We are fortunate to have support of the Little Lighthouse Foundation who has partnered with Special Olympics Florida – Miami-Dade County to provide funding and volunteer support for our Unified Flag Football Program. Dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences, Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. Our mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. With the support of The Little Lighthouse Foundation we are able to provide the thrill of competition to more athletes and continue to challenge the world to recognize the gifts of people with intellectual disabilities.

The Little Lighthouse Foundation’s Learn & Earn program significantly impacts our 6th grade students, providing free academic tutoring and performance-based incentives. The encouragement the program offers not only supports our students academically, but also motivates them to read more and to stay on track with learning goals. The use of incentives such as books, pens, pencils, paper, bags, t-shirts, toothbrushes, sneakers, and electronics, are items in which the students in our community are in dire need of. Our kids are truly fortunate to be receiving the support from The Little Lighthouse Foundation Learn & Earn!

Since volunteering for the first time with The Little Lighthouse Foundation in 2014, I’ve build relationships with children, families, volunteers, and leaders within The Little Lighthouse Foundation. I’m happy to say that these relationships have helped me open new doors, make me a better person and inspire others to give back and make a difference. Thank you The Little Lighthouse Foundation and remember we are one team guiding the way to little smiles.
